DiveBuddy.com Tens of thousands of scuba divers use DiveBuddy for everything related to scuba diving, not just finding a new dive buddy. With educational scuba articles (my articles are syndicated here), in-depth forum discussions, amazing underwater photos, detailed dive sites and more.
DiveBuddy.com is a wonderful resource for every type of scuba diver.
DiveVets.com – This group was started in 2004 by a group of local Divers who met diving at Veteran’s Park in Redondo Beach.
Any certified diver regardless of experience is welcome to join.
They plan beach and boat trips, dive events and are known for their world famous “dive debriefings.”
A fun group, but please understand their sarcasm and concern for safety!
This is the diving group that I consider “my home.”
SandEaters.org – A club that organizes a weekly Sunday morning or Saturday night beach dive.
Join the yahoo groups to be informed of the planned dives as the website is not always up to date.
I think this club has been in decline since one of the key people, Melvin P., was shipped off to Iraq.

Hey PSD;
Your words of SandEaters may be prolific, I tried to click their link and it is no longer available.
On a related note are you familiar at all with Pacific wildernss’ dive club? If so is it worth a go?

Hi Mike,
I have been a member of Pac Wild before. I dive with Divevets now. Both are fun groups. Pac Wild has more chicks in it, but they all (usually) have boyfriends or are lesbians. But, they have great monthly meetings with interesting speakers.
I would say, since you get membership and and air card, plus discounts on boat trips, go for it.
I must warm you though – I think this is why I don’t dive with them anymore – they are sort of clickish. I don’t remember ever really fitting in with them.

I need help, I am trying to find out if Sports Diving West in Whittier is still in business. I was certified in the mid to late 80s. There were a lot of good people at the shop. I appreciate all the help anybode can give me.

@Karin – I have never heard of Sports Diving West. If you lost your C Card, you may be able to take a refresher course and have one reissued to you.
