Logged Dive #138 – Diving As A Safety Diver, Casino Point

    Casino Point, Catalina, CA

I dove as a safety diver with Instructor John’s Open Water class.*

    In With: 3100 psi
    Out With: 1900 psi
    Max depth: 50-60 feet
    Waves: Insignificant
    Visibility: 20 feet plus
Water Temperature: Seems like it’s getting colder
    Total Bottom Time: 35 minutes
*The names of students have been changed, probably because I don’t remember them to begin with.

John tried the skin dive again with Leeza.

She got really nervous, she took her mask off and asked, “Can we go in now?”

    John took her back in.

Young Hottie and Green Horn had graduated and decided not to do any more dives.

So it was six divers: John, myself, the three students from his newer class… and Pedro.

I took up the rear of the line; one of the students kept hanging back, sight seeing.

John changed depths regularly; 40 feet to 200 feet to 40 feet.

Pedro either crawled on the rocks or floated up trying to keep up.

When he went too high, he pulled himself down using the kelp.

We all came ashore without incident. The water level seems deeper than before, it came up to the fourth or fifth step.
