Logged Dive #115, Casino Point, Catalina

    Casino Point, Catalina Island, California

Dove as a safety diver with Instructor John and his Open Water students Stan The Macho Man, Tuasopo (a diver that never earned a C-card) and a married couple Bonnie and Clyde.*

    In With: 3100 psi
    Out With: 1700 psi
    Max depth: 60 feet
    Waves: 1-2 feet
    Visibility: 20 feet at best
    Water Temperature: 60 degrees Fahrenheit
    Total Bottom Time: 19 minutes
*Note: Student names have been changed.

We did a skin dive first to check buoyancy.

Bonnie was a little tired and couldn’t manage to manually inflate her BC jacket; her husband helped.

The SCUBA dive went without any major problems.

John lead, I took up the rear.

I followed Bonnie up a few times because she had problems equalizing.

Casino Point was very crowded and everyone pretty much looks the same under water.

The tail end got separated from the head of the line a few times.

It was low tide and the stairs didn’t quite make it all the way down to the water’s edge, but everyone made it back over the slippery rocks.
