Logged Dive #65 – The Old Marineland, RPV, CA

    Long Point, CA
    (aka The Old Marineland)

    Dove with Nick
    In with: 3100 psi
    Out with: 700 psi
    Maximum Depth: 40 feet
    Waves: 1-3 feet
    Visibility: 15 feet/soupy
Water temperature: Cold in some places; I’ll guess 55 degrees F
    Total Bottom Time: 45 minutes

This morning I bought two Aluminum tanks from some dude named Mario.

I met him on the 4th of July while getting my tanks filled at Sports Chalet.

I met Nick at 9:15 AM.

He was slightly late “because of Donald Trump.”

No other divers were around, just fisherman.

It looked like it was low tide.

I walked out to enter and put my fins on.

    It was easy!

Nick waited a few minutes before coming in.

The waves were only 1-2 feet, but they rolled in over the rocks.

We took the same course, more or less, as we did July 9, 2004 (see ).

Visibility was not that great – 15 feet and soupy.

Coming in I was following the bottom and almost ran into the tail of a resting Sand Shark. I think I’ll stay 3-4 feet above the water from now on.

Nick banged his knee coming out while riding a wave in.

I walked out with no problem.
