Logged Dive #45 Long Point, RPV, CA
Long Point, CA
(aka The Old Marineland)
Dove with Nick
Diving conditions were horrible last weekend.
I didn’t even go — well, I went to Long Point and Redondo Beach, but the waves were horrendous.
It was the PV marathon, so the traffic sucked going to Long Point.
Nick and Robert were suppose to show up.
They didn’t.
At 08:40 AM I entered the water and swam about 50 yards.
I saw Nick walking down – I mean the guy is almost seven feet tall, so I was thinking it had to have been Nick.
He ran up after I told him I would wait.
At about 09:10 AM we both went out to the second kelp bed.
It was very choppy, but the swells were manageable.
We swam to the second kelp bed and hunted.
The visibility was better than I expected, 15 feet and clear.
I entered up shooting one sheephead, and using a lot of air doing it.
For some reason, there is a dead tree in the water.
We exited on our traditional spot.
The waves had calmed down while we were under; it was high tide.
In with: 2800 psi
Out with: 200 psi
Maximum depth: 40+ feet
Waves: 1-3 feet and choppy
Visibility: 15 feet and clear
Water temperature: Warmer than before
The “Dive and Surf” club was diving there, too.
