    Lobster Boat Canceled!

The Divevets posted a message on their board stating something along the lines of, “I talked to (Captain) Dick … and he said conditions tonight will be shitty with the wind gusting to 30 mph.”

    The boat was canceled.

Instructor John canceled his hunting excursion – he was planning on going out in his zodiac.

I passed by Veteran’s Park in Redondo Beach and witnessed the horrendous conditions.

Large surf was shooting over the breakwater, waves rolled under the pier to within maybe 15 feet of the walking platform.

The wind gusted to the point where I almost lost my cool green hat.

Lobster season is coming to an end in less than a week.

I’m putting the lobsters that I have in my freezer on “ration mode,” as I have come to the reality that I may not get a chance to catch any more.

The Dive That Would Have Happened If The Boat Started

Instructor John, Ron T and I met at 8 PM at King Harbor to go lobster hunting on SCUBA.

Our biggest problem of the night was that his engine wouldn’t start…

John looks at the engine while Ron supervises.

We believe it was a problem with the starter, but no matter how hard we hit the thing, it just wouldn’t start.

Better at the dock than at sea; it would have been a long paddle back from where we usually go.

I’m on the Island Diver Friday night; we may go out again Sunday if John can repair the engine by then.

There’s suppose to be large swells coming in tomorrow morning and over the weekend, so there’s a slight possibility that this may be it for the season.

Lobster season ends March 20 at midnight – Tuesday night / Wednesday morning.

We cracked open the beer and planned our season’s end strategy.

A hoop netter confirmed that the lobsters are still in about 85 feet.

I stopped by Vet’s Park and drank another beer with the Divevets.

There was some really hot chick reporter from the Daily Breeze that was hanging out with them.

She apparently is going to do a story on local diving.

My freezer of bugs is now in ration mode until the end of the season.
