Long Point, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
(aka The Old Marineland)
Solo Diving
In With: 3000 psi
Out With: 500 psi
Max depth: 45 feet
Waves: 1-3 feet
Visibility: 10-15 feet
Water Temperature: Getting cold
Total Bottom Time: 50 minutes
I arrived around 8:45 AM; they had apparently unlocked the gates at 8:00 AM, so there were no reports on the vis.
The Point looked really rough, so I decided to go out of The Cove.
The visibility wasn’t bad, about 10 feet, maybe up to 15 feet in some places.
I didn’t see any lobster, but I did run across the abandoned lobster trap that I’ve mentioned before.
Someone had opened it and taken the door off.
There seems to be more fish lately.
There’s nothing else to report.
This was a typical long Point dive.

Dennis, Al and some divers from Pacific Wilderness were exiting the water as I was walking down.
I went off the cove as the waves were picking up.
I submerged off the rocky point near Pigeon Shit cave and went South East to look for the reefs.
I sort of got lost.
It was like diving Redondo Beach half of the dive, all sand.
I eventually ran in to the lobster trap that some renegade occasionally baits.
I looked for lobsters, but didn’t see any.
I strayed a little off course coming in.
Out with no problem even though the swells were picking up.
The divers from Pacific Wilderness were in the parking lot having a barbecue and beer party.
They’ve seen me around the local diving scene, but didn’t even say “hi” to me.
They’re a strange bunch and probably as anti-social as I am to those who aren’t in their circle.
