Southern California Brush Fires! Choking Smoke!

Hoping to get some relief from the choking and nauseous fumes from the last day, because of the several fires from around here, I decided to try and, maybe not dive, but breathe a little easier at the Old Marineland, aka: Terranea Resort.

    The regulars meet.

The regulars met, wheezing, coughing and barfing in the thick, choking smoke.

Chris and Chris were the only ones at that time that decided to risk irreversible lung damage.

Chris A. and Not So New Chris were the only ones at that time to decide to risk irreversible lung damage.

I left and decided to go back to the Long Beach Ghetto.

The divide between the horrible air and the extremely noxious air became apparent once crossing the bridge from San Pedro.

The air is absolutely disgusting! It is raining soot!

This is the Sun at 11:00 AM.

It was raining soot so bad, some residents opted for protection under umbrellas.

OK, hopefully I can get back to diving in a few days!

The CIA needs to turn their weather machine on and create some rain around here!

Air Quality Is Terrible! Sit Home And Puke!

Southern California, specifically the Los Angeles/Long Beach area has been surrounded by three fires in Palos Verdes, Corona and Yorba Linda.

I live in the Long Beach Ghetto and the smoke here is unbearable; stopping to get compressed air for my SCUBA tanks this afternoon, the sky was almost evening dark with an eerie red tinge to it.

Coming back to my car 20 minutes later, the Duster was covered in ash.

    Smoke in the sky.

That is smoke in the sky, not clouds!

I locked myself in my apartment, closed all the windows and ran the air conditioning to at least breathe filtered air.

To compound the misery, they canceled I love Lucy and all the other decent shows to cover the fires.

Reports on the fires canceled many TV shows.

But, at least channel 11 had Ron Jeremy covering the Yorba Linda fire.
