Logged Dive #193 – Another Long Point Solo Dive

Long Point, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
    (aka The Old Marineland)

    Solo Diving

    In With: 2800 psi
    Out With: 1200 psi
    Max depth: 35 feet
Waves: 1-2 feet, easy entry and exit
    Visibility: 10-15 feet
    Water Temperature: Cool
Total Bottom Time: About 40 minutes.

Ed came along with me to go free diving.

The group Three-R’s were there at Long Point, just like last Summer.

Three-R’s is “Reefs, Rocks and Rip-Tides;” they give classes in marine life identification and safe rock entry.

Most of the class apparently was there just to free dive or snorkel.

I got into the water around 9 AM or so – I still don’t have a replacement watch.

I submerged and went West towards the old pier pilings.

I guess I sort of got off course because I was shallower than I should have been.

I never ran across any of the pilings, but did swim across a Shovel Nosed Guitar fish that sort of startled me.

I headed to deeper waters and turned East to hopefully get to the “120 Reef.”

I was getting bored a little bit, so I headed in.

Reverend Al and some other Divevets were there.
