The SCUBA Show June 21 & 22, 2008 – Long Beach Convention Center
I have always told myself that I would never attend the yearly SCUBA show that’s held in Long Beach.
For many years I have heard the SCUBA show is a rip off – $8 beers, no equipment for sale and all the exhibitors are selling expensive travel packages; I can barely afford Catalina.
But, after talking with some other divers, I have now heard the event referred to as “a blast.”
“You see a lot of friends that you haven’t seen for a long time, you talk about your passion with other divers and watch cool movies,” Dive Bum Don said.
Evil Jeff, I hear, is even going to be a bouncer at the event.
And, unlike the beach dives that I frequent, the SCUBA Show apparently has fifty-percent women in attendance.
I’m planning to go early Saturday and see the expo and movies.
There are three Saturday seminars that I’m interested in attending:
12 PM #112 – A Divemaster Shares His Secrets
1 PM #21 – Southern California’s Beach Diving
4 PM #24 – Why Divers Die
Since this event relates to my ongoing professional Divemaster education, I’m going to write off the admission and liquid refreshments as a business expense.
If you see me around, please say “Hi” and feel free to buy me a beer.
More information is available by going to http://www.scubashow.com.
$8.00 beers would turn me off too!
