{"id":641,"date":"2007-07-07T16:42:09","date_gmt":"2007-07-07T23:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=641"},"modified":"2008-02-06T03:39:46","modified_gmt":"2008-02-06T10:39:46","slug":"logged-dive-238-north-of-margate-hunting-off-the-zodiac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=641","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #238 &#8211; North Of Margate; hunting off the zodiac"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>North of Margate, Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA<br \/>\nSouthern California Buddy Diving with John and Ron off of John&#8217;s Zodiac<\/p>\n<p>In With: 2900 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 1500 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 40 feet<br \/>\nWaves: Minor chop<br \/>\nVisibility: 10-15 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cool<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 35 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Wow, it&#8217;s great to have a friend with a boat!<\/p>\n<p>It was the same routine; I picked Ron up, met John at his boat and we were off.<\/p>\n<p>I took my spear gun just in case I needed to look macho in front of some chicks, but I had no intention of shooting anything unless I knew the ocean was crawling with White Sea Bass.<\/p>\n<p>During the ride to Margate, we hit a swell pretty hard and heard a big &#8220;wooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh&#8221; like an inner tube leaking, or something.<\/p>\n<p>My stomach sank;  it would be a long surface swim from where we were if the boat was sinking.<\/p>\n<p>It ended up being the fire extinguisher spraying into the storage bag.<\/p>\n<p>CO2 was everywhere, but at least that&#8217;s what it was and not an inner tube.<\/p>\n<p>We anchored just North of Margate.<\/p>\n<p>I jumped over, fumbled with putting my BCD on and eventually submerged.<\/p>\n<p>It took a while for me to get down; I was sort of cold and my ears didn&#8217;t clear immediately.<\/p>\n<p>I trolled for scallops and Uni.<\/p>\n<p>I thought if there&#8217;s one thing that I can get, it is Uni, and being a fan of Sushi, I really would appreciate such a lunch with my post dive beers.<\/p>\n<p>I couldn&#8217;t find any scallops.<\/p>\n<p>I was the first one back to the boat.<\/p>\n<p>John complained that a seal was following him around on his dive.<\/p>\n<p>Ron came back shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>North of Margate, Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA Southern California Buddy Diving with John and Ron off of John&#8217;s Zodiac In With: 2900 psi Out With: 1500 psi Max depth: 40 feet Waves: Minor chop Visibility: 10-15 feet Water Temperature: Cool Total Bottom Time: 35 minutes Wow, it&#8217;s great to have a friend with a boat!
