{"id":633,"date":"2007-06-16T09:41:47","date_gmt":"2007-06-16T16:41:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=633"},"modified":"2008-02-03T12:12:29","modified_gmt":"2008-02-03T19:12:29","slug":"freediving-at-malaga-cove","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=633","title":{"rendered":"Freediving At Malaga Cove"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malaga Cove, Palos Verdes Estates, CA<\/p>\n<p>Free Diving\/Kayak Diving With Ed<\/p>\n<p>Max depth: 15 feet<br \/>\nWaves: 1-4 foot rolling swells<br \/>\nVisibility: 5-10 feet, sort of silty<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cool<br \/>\nTotal Ocean Time: 30 minutes or so.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s been red tide that&#8217;s kept me out of the water of a couple of weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Ed bought a two person inflatable Diveyak that has never been in the water.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been gathering dust for about a year.<\/p>\n<p>I picked Ed up and we split for Malaga.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of divers were there;  Long Point is now closed for beach access.<\/p>\n<p>Revered Al, his buddies and a few other divers checked out Ed&#8217;s Diveyak.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/11830024.JPG\" alt=\"Me and Ed with his Kayak.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We put our spears and the rest of the equipment in the kayak, carried it down to the rocks and launched it after a precarious walk over the rocks.<\/p>\n<p>When the Diveyak was in the water, the tubes started to cool and the boat started to sag.<\/p>\n<p>I pumped more air in with the &#8220;foot pump,&#8221; holding it against my chest.<\/p>\n<p>We paddled out, fighting a surface current that was running parallel to Rossler&#8217;s pool &#8211; or at least that&#8217;s what it used to be called.<\/p>\n<p>I hard a hard time sitting comfortably.<\/p>\n<p>Ed was in the front, I was in the back.  The seat was in my way and I actually ended up sitting on top of it.<\/p>\n<p>We dropped anchor.<\/p>\n<p>SCUBA divers were all around.<\/p>\n<p>I thought to myself, &#8220;Why did we even take this kayak out here?
