\nWater Temperature: Cold
\nTotal Bottom Time: 20 minutes<\/p>\n
Nick is going to Florida and needs a “refresher” dive.<\/p>\n
So, calling on my Dive Mastering abilities, we went to “make sure” Nick’s equipment still works.<\/p>\n
The usual amount of classes were there.<\/p>\n
We entered directly out from the steps; I went out first.<\/p>\n
There was some fairly large chop going out.<\/p>\n
Nick lost a fin upon entry; a DM from a class was watching and retrieved it for him.<\/p>\n
We swam out; the water was sort of cold.<\/p>\n
Later it was revealed to me that it was 53 degrees Fahrenheit.<\/p>\n
We submerged to 20 feet or so.<\/p>\n
I fucked up and started to go towards the beach.<\/p>\n
Nick did some weird hand signals that I couldn’t understand.<\/p>\n
We surfaced and he asked where the shore was.<\/p>\n
Ooops! <\/p>\n
I have horrible navigation skills here sometimes and I wasn’t even narced!<\/p>\n
We submerged again, went West and over the shelf.<\/p>\n
It got colder.<\/p>\n
The vis cleared to 10 feet or so.<\/p>\n
We trolled and trolled over the barren landscape and trash.<\/p>\n
I was getting cold.<\/p>\n
We swam back up the shelf and towards shore to 15 feet.<\/p>\n
We surfaced and walked in among some strong swells.<\/p>\n
The DM that was watching before, was watching us exit.<\/p>\n
Nick thanked him; I should have, but I’ll blame it on my unsocial behavior.<\/p>\n
