{"id":545,"date":"2006-06-10T18:28:06","date_gmt":"2006-06-11T01:28:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=545"},"modified":"2008-01-27T10:58:06","modified_gmt":"2008-01-27T17:58:06","slug":"logged-dive-184-redondo-beach-training-the-harbor-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=545","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #184 &#8211; Redondo Beach, Training The Harbor Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran&#8217;s Park, Redondo Beach, CA<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Instructor John, his friend Jim, John&#8217;s Harbor Police Open Water students and two other certified Harbor Police Officers as part of my Dive Master training.<\/p>\n<p>In With: 2700 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 1800 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 30 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  4-6 feet<br \/>\nVisibility: 3-10 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: 55 &#8211; 65 degrees Fahrenheit<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 21 minutes<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/144.jpg\" alt=\"John gives the dive briefing to his Harbor Police students.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>John gives the dive briefing to his Harbor Police Students.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know any of the students names, so I won&#8217;t even bother giving fake names.<\/p>\n<p>We did the initial Open Water &#8220;skin dive&#8221; that was pretty challenging.<\/p>\n<p>The waves were really big, four to six feet.<\/p>\n<p>The Officers didn&#8217;t have snorkels because they don&#8217;t use them.<\/p>\n<p>One Officer couldn&#8217;t breathe well and was going to cancel until John had him remove his hood.<\/p>\n<p>Jim and I submerged first followed by a chick and three guys;  John had a hard time getting another student down.<\/p>\n<p>After six minutes or so, John and the remaining student made it down.<\/p>\n<p>We all went towards the shelf, but a student signaled to me that he was getting really cold.<\/p>\n<p>I let John know before we went over the shelf.<\/p>\n<p>We turned back and all went in.<\/p>\n<p>The two regular Harbor Police Officers who were diving with us had intercoms and were talking to each other; the two later said how wonderful the visibility was.<\/p>\n<p>The thing is, as crappy as it was, they weren&#8217;t joking coming from the crap that they dive in.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran&#8217;s Park, Redondo Beach, CA Dove with Instructor John, his friend Jim, John&#8217;s Harbor Police Open Water students and two other certified Harbor Police Officers as part of my Dive Master training.
