{"id":544,"date":"2006-05-28T18:24:49","date_gmt":"2006-05-29T01:24:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=544"},"modified":"2008-01-27T10:51:04","modified_gmt":"2008-01-27T17:51:04","slug":"logged-dive-183-long-point-solo-diving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=544","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #183 &#8211; Long Point Solo Diving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA<br \/>\n(aka The Old Marineland)<\/p>\n<p>Solo Diving<\/p>\n<p>In With: 3000 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 1200 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 40 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  1-3 feet<br \/>\nVisibility: 10-15 feet, silty<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cool<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: I think about 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p>My Memorial Day Dive!<\/p>\n<p>I stopped by Friday to dive, but conditions sucked.<\/p>\n<p>I scouted today&#8217;s conditions &#8211; the Point was really choppy, but the Cove looked manageable.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of the Divevets were there.<\/p>\n<p>I entered from the Cove and swam East toward the first reef and submerged.<\/p>\n<p>Vis was probably 10-15 feet, or a &#8220;good 10,&#8221; but pretty silty.<\/p>\n<p>At one point in my dive, the water turned REALLY DARK.<\/p>\n<p>I looked up as a thick school of mackerel (or sardines) passed overhead; I then got spooked by seeing two other divers.<\/p>\n<p>Coming ashore, I couldn&#8217;t get one of my fins off to walk, so I crawled up on the rocks &#8211; sort of embarrassing because a lot of the Divevets were watching my not-so-graceful exit.<\/p>\n<p>I was the first one in the water, and the first one out this morning. <\/p>\n<p>Some divers were still entering as I was coming ashore.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t hang out for the traditional Divevets beer party.  <\/p>\n<p>I slammed a few of my own brews and left early.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA (aka The Old Marineland) Solo Diving In With: 3000 psi Out With: 1200 psi Max depth: 40 feet Waves: 1-3 feet Visibility: 10-15 feet, silty Water Temperature: Cool Total Bottom Time: I think about 30 minutes My Memorial Day Dive!
