{"id":541,"date":"2006-04-30T22:14:21","date_gmt":"2006-05-01T05:14:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=541"},"modified":"2008-01-27T09:21:42","modified_gmt":"2008-01-27T16:21:42","slug":"logged-dive-180-dmiting-an-ow-class-at-veterans-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=541","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #180 &#8211; DMITing An OW Class At Veteran&#8217;s Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran&#8217;s Park, Redondo Beach, CA<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Instructor John&#8217;s Open Water student Jack<strong>*<\/strong> as part of my Dive Master Class.<\/p>\n<p>In With: 3100 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 2000 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 50 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  1-3 feet, ankle breakers<br \/>\nVisibility: 5-8 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: 58 degrees Fahrenheit &#8211; I think<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 31 minutes<br \/>\n<strong>*Student names have been changed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>General Custer only had 1000 psi in his second tank; the shop screwed up and didn&#8217;t fill it.<\/p>\n<p>Jack kept sucking up water whenever he would try and use his snorkel.  <\/p>\n<p>He attributed the facts to, &#8220;I just don&#8217;t know how to use a snorkel.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p>John examined his setup;  he had his snorkel on wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Jack and I descended down to 15 or 20 feet;  he followed me down and over the shelf.<\/p>\n<p>We swam at 60 feet going North towards the pier.  <\/p>\n<p>Jack was to my left, then out of the corner of my eye, Jack bolted upwards, then swam to my right side.  <\/p>\n<p>I looked at him, he gave me the &#8220;OK&#8221; sign.<\/p>\n<p>We trolled around for 20 minutes and then headed in. <\/p>\n<p>Sand dollars, small crabs, star fish &#8211; the Redondo usual.<\/p>\n<p>We came ashore, just off the stairs, without incident.<\/p>\n<p>Jack and General Custer both graduated the Open Water class today.<\/p>\n<p>Ed met me after class;  we went to Quality Seafood at the pier for some beer and lunch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran&#8217;s Park, Redondo Beach, CA Dove with Instructor John&#8217;s Open Water student Jack* as part of my Dive Master Class.
