{"id":515,"date":"2006-01-21T20:54:55","date_gmt":"2006-01-22T03:54:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=515"},"modified":"2008-01-26T19:52:53","modified_gmt":"2008-01-27T02:52:53","slug":"logged-dive-168-solo-diving-veterans-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=515","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #168 &#8211; Solo Diving Veteran&#8217;s Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran&#8217;s Park, Redondo Beach, CA<\/p>\n<p>Solo Diving<\/p>\n<p>In With: 3000 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 900 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 90 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  4-5 feet<br \/>\nVisibility: 5-8 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: 50 degrees Fahrenheit, cold<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 35 minutes<\/p>\n<p>I just got back from a trip to Iowa.  <\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s diving in Iowa, believe it or not &#8211; I&#8217;ll have to go back and dive one day.<\/p>\n<p>I learned about a sewage spill from Nick and on divevets.com.<\/p>\n<p>The beaches are now open, but the surf is still up slightly.  <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve called off several dives since I last got in to the water.<\/p>\n<p>Four to five foot waves were breaking off shore, the air was pretty damn cold, too.<\/p>\n<p>I entered the water around 7:20 AM;  the water temperature was 50 degrees Fahrenheit according to a diver with a thermometer.<\/p>\n<p>I submerged in 20 feet of water and went down the shelf to 90 feet.<\/p>\n<p>I did not come across the cinder blocks and SCUBA tank from my last dive.<\/p>\n<p>This was sort of a cold and boring dive actually.  <\/p>\n<p>I went in after just 35 minutes &#8211; I was too cold and I was getting lonely.<\/p>\n<p>I got pounded by a few waves coming ashore;  there&#8217;s a steep sand step that I tripped over.<\/p>\n<p>It was hard for me to get up, so I started crawling &#8211; someone ran over to help &#8211; an instructor maybe?  <\/p>\n<p>I thanked him, but I thought my physical condition has declined somewhat.<\/p>\n<p>I met Bob from the Divevets; we&#8217;ve seen each other around the diving scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran&#8217;s Park, Redondo Beach, CA Solo Diving In With: 3000 psi Out With: 900 psi Max depth: 90 feet Waves: 4-5 feet Visibility: 5-8 feet Water Temperature: 50 degrees Fahrenheit, cold Total Bottom Time: 35 minutes I just got back from a trip to Iowa.
