{"id":452,"date":"2005-10-01T20:44:42","date_gmt":"2005-10-02T03:44:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=452"},"modified":"2008-01-25T19:37:32","modified_gmt":"2008-01-26T02:37:32","slug":"logged-dive-149-opening-night-of-lobster-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=452","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #149 &#8211; Opening Night Of Lobster Season!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Isthmus Reef, Catalina, CA<\/p>\n<p>Night time\/Lobster Hunting<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Nick<\/p>\n<p>In With: 2800 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 700 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 70 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  0<br \/>\nVisibility: 15-20 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cool<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 50 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Opening Night Of Lobster Season!<\/p>\n<p>Nick flew in from Cleveland and barely made the boat.<\/p>\n<p>This was the opening night of Lobster season.<\/p>\n<p>Nick and I signed up in August for this trip and was suppose to be limited to the number of &#8220;available bunks&#8221; since this was an over night boat.<\/p>\n<p>I got the last bunk after fighting over a bunk.<\/p>\n<p>Nick had to sleep in the galley;  the Dive Masters Sean and Julia didn&#8217;t seem to care that the boat was apparently over sold &#8211; not that they could have done anything about it.<\/p>\n<p>We waited for several hours until midnight.<\/p>\n<p>I waited for Nick; we were not the first off the boat, as I had hoped.<\/p>\n<p>I got my hands on a few lobsters, but they had wiggled free.<\/p>\n<p>Nick was out of shape and we were swimming against a current.<\/p>\n<p>Nick at one point waited on the surface for me.<\/p>\n<p>When I surfaced, he was gone.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, Nick made it back to the boat after he lost a fin in the kelp   &#8211; which was found and returned by another diver.<\/p>\n<p>Nick was frustrated and apparently pissed at me because I &#8220;wasn&#8217;t paying attention&#8221; to my buddy.<\/p>\n<p>I forgot to explain that I&#8217;m a shitty dive buddy when it comes to lobster hunting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Isthmus Reef, Catalina, CA Night time\/Lobster Hunting Dove with Nick In With: 2800 psi Out With: 700 psi Max depth: 70 feet Waves: 0 Visibility: 15-20 feet Water Temperature: Cool Total Bottom Time: 50 minutes Opening Night Of Lobster Season!
