{"id":437,"date":"2005-08-14T19:35:15","date_gmt":"2005-08-15T02:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=437"},"modified":"2008-01-22T23:47:06","modified_gmt":"2008-01-23T06:47:06","slug":"logged-dive-136-safety-diver-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=437","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #136 &#8211; Safety Diver For John&#8217;s OW Class"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Casino Point, Catalina, CA<\/p>\n<p>I dove as a safety diver with Instructor John&#8217;s Open Water class.<strong>*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In With: 3400 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 2400 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 45 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  Insignificant, High Tide<br \/>\nVisibility: 20 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cold at 45 feet<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: About 30 minutes<br \/>\n<strong>*The names of students have been changed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I went free diving while the students were gearing up.  <\/p>\n<p>I think I should take a few pounds off my weight belt.<\/p>\n<p>Leeza had problems with the skin dive.  <\/p>\n<p>She was in near panic and John brought he back in.<\/p>\n<p>So we geared up in the water we went, all eight of us.  <\/p>\n<p>The ninth person, Leeza, snorkeled on the surface per John&#8217;s instructions.<\/p>\n<p>I submerged first, then the three students from the later class, Young Hottie, Green Horn, Pedro and then John followed.<\/p>\n<p>John did basic check outs for three of his students, while the rest of us just floated around.<\/p>\n<p>Pedro was holding on to a metal disk and chain trying to stay down. <\/p>\n<p>It looked like some bizarre underwater trapeze act.<\/p>\n<p>After the check outs, we followed John to the Jacques Cousteau memorial.<\/p>\n<p>Some students were running low on air, so we headed back in.<\/p>\n<p>Pedro was doing his bicycle kick\/dog paddle routine.  <\/p>\n<p>Amazingly enough, he was able to propel himself.<\/p>\n<p>The tide was so high, that three to four steps of the stairs were submerged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Casino Point, Catalina, CA I dove as a safety diver with Instructor John&#8217;s Open Water class.* In With: 3400 psi Out With: 2400 psi Max depth: 45 feet Waves: Insignificant, High Tide Visibility: 20 feet Water Temperature: Cold at 45 feet Total Bottom Time: About 30 minutes *The names of students have been changed.
