{"id":3691,"date":"2015-05-10T20:13:26","date_gmt":"2015-05-11T03:13:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=3691"},"modified":"2015-05-10T20:13:26","modified_gmt":"2015-05-11T03:13:26","slug":"mothers-day-dive-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=3691","title":{"rendered":"Mother&#8217;s Day Dive 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I needed a dive &#8211; it keeps my blood pressure under control, until the debriefing of course. <\/p>\n<p>It rained a bit a couple of days ago, and the swell maps made the conditions look like it was going to suck; I decided to go and at least look.<\/p>\n<p>It was a very small diving crew consisting of Reverend Al, Ben, Randy, Alex and myself.<\/p>\n<p>I was told the Point was doable, if you timed it right; that usually means I&#8217;m going to get smashed against the rocks.<\/p>\n<p>Reverend Al gave me one of his old wetsuits that didn&#8217;t have any holes in it and had never been peed in &#8211; and it actually fit!<\/p>\n<p>We geared up and walked to the Point where the swells were crashing against the low tide rocks in predictable sets.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/point6653894.jpg\" alt=\"A macho Point entrance\" width=\"400\" height=\"285\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3692\" srcset=\"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/point6653894.jpg 400w, https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/point6653894-300x213.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We took our time in getting out &#8211; and everyone made it without any problems.<\/p>\n<p>We swam a little ways out and submerged.<\/p>\n<p>Logged SCUBA Dive #491<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Reverend Al, Randy, Ben and Alex<\/p>\n<p>The Point, Terranea Resort, Palos Verdes, CA<\/p>\n<p>In With: 2900 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 500 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 58 feet<br \/>\nWaves: Some swells at the point, other surge.<br \/>\nVisibility: 10 feet or so<br \/>\nWater Temperature: 52 degrees<br \/>\nAir Temperature: 75 degrees<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 39 minutes<\/p>\n<p>It was dark, but the 10 feet of visibility that we did have was clear.<\/p>\n<p>However,  for whatever reason, this is the only underwater picture that came out&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/GOPR0924rtyjyuu78.jpg\" alt=\"Best Picture\" width=\"400\" height=\"249\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3694\" srcset=\"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/GOPR0924rtyjyuu78.jpg 400w, https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/GOPR0924rtyjyuu78-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I took a lot of pictures, but only ended up with a few.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe the camera wasn&#8217;t on?<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think the pictures would have been spectacular anyway.<\/p>\n<p>The statue at the pinnacle has a lot of growth on it now &#8211; I almost passed it, thinking it was a reef.<\/p>\n<p>My new-to-me wetsuit was more buoyant than my last one, so I put some rocks in the pockets of my BCD jacket for extra weight.<\/p>\n<p>It was cold; I should have worn my core warmer, too.<\/p>\n<p>I followed the group until I got down to 500 psi and surfaced.<\/p>\n<p>I was a hundred yards from the exit at the Cove,  but the surface swim was easy.<\/p>\n<p>It was low tide; coming in, I had to swim back out to take my fins off and walk in.<\/p>\n<p>The rest soon followed, and all made perfect exits.<\/p>\n<p>I apologized the Reverend Al for peeing in his wetsuit.<\/p>\n<p>He was so disgusted that he let me keep it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/GOPR096266hyuio.jpg\" alt=\"The sandy Beach\" width=\"400\" height=\"198\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3695\" srcset=\"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/GOPR096266hyuio.jpg 400w, https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/GOPR096266hyuio-300x148.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><br \/>\n<em>I like the sandy part of the beach now.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Debriefing was rather quick, and wrapped up by 11 AM.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/DSCF7001crew45.jpg\" alt=\"The crew - Randy, Ben, Alex, Reverend Al and Me.\" width=\"400\" height=\"294\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3693\" srcset=\"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/DSCF7001crew45.jpg 400w, https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/DSCF7001crew45-300x220.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Today&#8217;s crew &#8211; Randy, Ben, Alex, Reverend Al and Me.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Next week, I go on a secret non-diving two week mission.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I needed a dive &#8211; it keeps my blood pressure under control, until the debriefing of course.
