{"id":314,"date":"2005-04-03T20:23:43","date_gmt":"2005-04-04T03:23:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=314"},"modified":"2008-01-20T13:20:27","modified_gmt":"2008-01-20T20:20:27","slug":"logged-dive-112-long-point-palos-verdes-ca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=314","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #112, Long Point, Palos Verdes, CA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA<br \/>\n(aka The Old Marineland)<\/p>\n<p>Solo Diving with a lot of Sandeaters in the water<\/p>\n<p>In With: 3400 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 1800 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 40 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  1-2 feet; pretty calm<br \/>\nVisibility: 5-8 feet &#8211; It sucked!<br \/>\nWater Temperature: I was cold!<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p>The Sandeaters and apparently the Dive and Surf groups were at Long Point.<\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly, Melvin P. wasn&#8217;t there.<\/p>\n<p>I went in about 9 AM off of the Cove &#8211; pebble beach as Melvin calls it.<\/p>\n<p>I went to where the second kelp bed was, and ran across the abandoned lobster trap that someone keeps baiting (see <a href=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/index.php?p=293\"> Dive #92 <\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Someone had opened the trap door, but I&#8217;m glad because it&#8217;s not lobster season.<\/p>\n<p>Visibility sucked; 5-8 feet at best.<\/p>\n<p>I ran across a few other divers.<\/p>\n<p>It was cold and there wasn&#8217;t much to see because of the poor visibility.<\/p>\n<p>I cut the dive short.<\/p>\n<p>I met &#8220;Matt&#8221; who insisted on helping me out of the water by taking my fins &#8211; insisting to the point of him almost having a panic attack.<\/p>\n<p>Matt said that he cancelled his dive because his rig free flowed.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s looking for dive buddies; but having talked to him, he seems very nervous and hasn&#8217;t dove for several years.<\/p>\n<p>I recommended a refresher course and gave him Instructor John&#8217;s business card.<\/p>\n<p>I also gave his &#8220;dive buddy&#8221; Phillip,  Instructor John&#8217;s business card.<\/p>\n<p>Phillip got certified 20 years ago and he had lost his card.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, Matt was to go SCUBA diving and his &#8220;buddy&#8221; Phillip was to free dive with him.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of people were there!<\/p>\n<p>I hope Mr. Trump will continue to allow access to this great place!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA (aka The Old Marineland) Solo Diving with a lot of Sandeaters in the water In With: 3400 psi Out With: 1800 psi Max depth: 40 feet Waves: 1-2 feet; pretty calm Visibility: 5-8 feet &#8211; It sucked!
