Emerald Bay at Indian Rocks, Catalina, CA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emerald Bay at Indian Rocks, Catalina, CA<br \/>\nDiving off the Bottom Scratcher Boat<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Tim and Reyna, who  I know from Long Point<\/p>\n<p>In With: 3100 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 500 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 80 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  Insignificant<br \/>\nVisibility: 30 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cold &#8211; someone said it was 54 degrees<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 45 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Nick hurt his ankle, so I took his spot.<\/p>\n<p>I had credit and reservations for the same boat and destination for February.<\/p>\n<p>We left Long Beach at 6:45 AM.<\/p>\n<p>I had number 13 again, as I requested.<\/p>\n<p>I think the same people from the last two trip attempts were on this boat.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/223.jpg\" alt=\"Dolphins swim along side of the boat.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was the same crew from the last time, Captain Greg, Bobby the Deck Hand and&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/98.jpg\" alt=\"Debbie, the cook of the Bottomscratcher.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Debbie the cook!<\/p>\n<p>The dive master in his orientation said, &#8220;Everyone needs a buddy, no exceptions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t want to risk being banned from diving after the first dive, so I asked to be &#8220;buddied up&#8221; with someone.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/416.jpg\" alt=\"Indian Rocks, Catalina, CA\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Dive Master asked a few of the members from, I guess, their dive club. <\/p>\n<p>Everyone declined, so he went over and started talking to an Instructor that was teaching a class.<\/p>\n<p>I thought, screw this, I&#8217;m not diving with an Open Water class so I begged Tim and Reyna to follow them.<\/p>\n<p>Tim seemed a little concerned about my diving skill level.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How deep can you go?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I said, &#8220;130 feet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, they were both very nice and I told them I was just out to follow them.<\/p>\n<p>Once off the boat, we submerged and headed away from the shore.<\/p>\n<p>The environment resembled a lightly decorated White Point.<\/p>\n<p>We went down to 80 feet.<\/p>\n<p>Tim and I were both hunting lobsters; Reyna was behind us collecting Sea Shells.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, this is routine for them.<\/p>\n<p>We started heading for the rocks; it got progressively shallower as we went towards them.<\/p>\n<p>The environment changed to resemble what I envisioned Catalina should look like.<\/p>\n<p>I spotted a few lobsters, none of them legal size.<\/p>\n<p>Tim and Reyna were in dry suits and had 1600 psi when I got down to 500 psi.<\/p>\n<p>I broke off and went back to the boat.<\/p>\n<p>I had to swim back over the kelp as &#8220;Bubba&#8221;
