{"id":298,"date":"2004-12-11T18:55:11","date_gmt":"2004-12-12T01:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=298"},"modified":"2008-01-19T23:00:49","modified_gmt":"2008-01-20T06:00:49","slug":"logged-dive-94-diving-at-the-old-marineland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=298","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #96  Diving at the Old Marineland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA<br \/>\n(aka The Old Marineland)<\/p>\n<p>Diving with John H.<\/p>\n<p>In With: 2900 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 500 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 45 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  1-4 feet, swooping<br \/>\nVisibility: 5-10 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cool to cold<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 45 minutes<\/p>\n<p>My instrument panel on the Duster is screwed up, so I decided to go diving after realizing that replacing the instrument regulator didn&#8217;t fix anything.<\/p>\n<p>I called John H to let him know that I&#8217;d be down at Long point around 8:30 AM.<\/p>\n<p>I took the &#8220;long way&#8221; around Palos Verdes and was there at 8:30 AM &#8211; so was John H.<\/p>\n<p>It was about high tide and the waves were rolling in, long and sweeping over the rocks.<\/p>\n<p>We were about to call it off, until John H. found out that the surfing conditions sucked too.<\/p>\n<p>John H said, &#8220;I&#8217;ll go if you are up for diving.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>My machismo kicked in; we went.<\/p>\n<p>We tried to find the lobster trap that I&#8217;ve been keeping tabs on.<\/p>\n<p>It was too soupy, 5 to 10 feet;  we were close, I could tell.<\/p>\n<p>I motioned to John that I would follow him.<\/p>\n<p>John H shot a 15-inch Sheephead.<\/p>\n<p>I followed him around, losing him once when he took &#8220;a shot at something big with fins.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He swears it wasn&#8217;t me.<\/p>\n<p>I surfaced and followed the bubbles back down to him.<\/p>\n<p>He shot an even bigger sheephead afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>We went to the kelp bed on the &#8220;other&#8221; side of Pigeon Shit cave.<\/p>\n<p>It was too soupy, so we headed back.<\/p>\n<p>We saw lobsters in deep holes.<\/p>\n<p>Easy out, but a little challenging.<\/p>\n<p>I crawled up behind &#8220;friendship rock.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA (aka The Old Marineland) Diving with John H.
