{"id":2955,"date":"2013-12-30T07:56:35","date_gmt":"2013-12-30T14:56:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=2955"},"modified":"2013-12-30T07:57:00","modified_gmt":"2013-12-30T14:57:00","slug":"end-of-the-year-dive-in-palos-verdes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=2955","title":{"rendered":"End Of The Year Dive Off Palos Verdes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>December 29, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I arrived promptly at 8 AM, extremely tired from getting about three total hours of sleep.<\/p>\n<p>I was hanging out with this hot chick the previous night; I wasn&#8217;t drinking since she doesn&#8217;t like drunks, so I had to endure the side affects of insomnia.<\/p>\n<p>A good sized crowd showed up, along with some divers we had never seen and a few kayakers.<\/p>\n<p>After changing the camera housing seals after my flood last dive, I took an empty housing on this dive to check for leaks.<\/p>\n<p>We all had geared up by 9:10 &#8211; the Point looked a little rough, but the Cove was fine.<\/p>\n<p>Reverend Al, Holly and I, made a perfect entrance into the nearly flat water that was disturbed only by a few rolling swells against the shore.<\/p>\n<p>We waited for Ted and his buddy, submerged and went to the right, the opposite way of 120 reef.<\/p>\n<p>Logged SCUBA Dive #459<\/p>\n<p>Dove With Reverend Al and Holly<\/p>\n<p>Terranea Resort<br \/>\nRancho Palos Verdes, CA, USA<\/p>\n<p>In With: 2800 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 1100 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 40 feet<br \/>\nWaves: A few rollers at the shore, flat otherwise<br \/>\nVisibility: 10 feet, 15 feet some places<br \/>\nWater Temperature: 58 degrees<br \/>\nAir Temperature: 78 degrees<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 35 minutes<\/p>\n<p>After about three minutes I checked my air &#8211; I was at 2,600 psi, but every time I took a breathe the needle would drop to 2,000.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, my air wasn&#8217;t all the way on; I must have bumped or rubbed against something on the way out.<\/p>\n<p>I swam up to Reverend Al, showed him the problem and he turned the air all the way on.<\/p>\n<p>There was a mild surge that made it challenging not to run into my surroundings, whether it be a reef, another diver or kelp.<\/p>\n<p>Visibility wasn&#8217;t all that great, but there were some spots that reached 15 feet of visibility.<\/p>\n<p>After 20 minutes, Holly signaled to me that she was getting cold.<\/p>\n<p>I signaled to Reverend Al, that we were turning around,  Holly seemed a little pissed.<\/p>\n<p>I would rather turn around when someone is getting cold, than turn around when someone is cold.<\/p>\n<p>We slowly made our way back to the cove; I helped Holly off with her hook, almost tearing her head off in the process.<\/p>\n<p>My camera case was bone dry on the inside!<\/p>\n<p>I want to test in at 120 feet before putting my camera inside for a dive.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/DSCF5118OML998.jpg\" alt=\"The group shot\" width=\"400\" height=\"269\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2957\" srcset=\"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/DSCF5118OML998.jpg 400w, https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/DSCF5118OML998-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><br \/>\n<em>The Sunday Dive Crew<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I brought Polska Kielbasa since Dash had mentioned that he was bringing his barbecue. <\/p>\n<p>When no grill was fired up, I asked why.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that nobody brought anything to grill, and when I told them I had, the barbecue was lit.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/DSCF5122OML998.jpg\" alt=\"The barbecue during the debriefing.\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2956\" srcset=\"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/DSCF5122OML998.jpg 400w, https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/DSCF5122OML998-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Dash tenders the debriefing barbecue.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I was really tired, and kept the debriefing at a minimum.<\/p>\n<p>And so ends another year of diving &#8211; I have slacked this year with only 30 dives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 29, 2013 I arrived promptly at 8 AM, extremely tired from getting about three total hours of sleep.
