{"id":289,"date":"2004-11-13T18:20:04","date_gmt":"2004-11-14T01:20:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=289"},"modified":"2008-01-19T20:57:37","modified_gmt":"2008-01-20T03:57:37","slug":"logged-dive-88-three-sisters-santa-barbara-island-ca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=289","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #88 Three Sisters, Santa Barbara Island, CA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three Sisters, Santa Barbara Island, CA<br \/>\nDiving off of the Sundiver Boat<\/p>\n<p>In With: 2700 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 800 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 40 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  Insignificant, but a strong current<br \/>\nVisibility: 40 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cool<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 45 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Nick and 15 other guys and hot chicks.<\/p>\n<p>We showed up four hours before the boat was to leave to scout out a good sleeping spot and then went to party at Buster&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/2a1.jpg\" alt=\"Nick and I at Busters.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The waitress comes over and offers to take our picture.  <\/p>\n<p>She was really hot, so how could I  refuse.  <\/p>\n<p>And to prove she was hot, I decided to fulfill every bartender&#8217;s fantasy&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/1a2.jpg\" alt=\"Me and the hot bartender\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and have Nick snap a picture of her and one of her customers in an increasingly intoxicated state.<\/p>\n<p>After being thrown out of the crew bunk (the only single) and apparently making a drunken stink about it (I don&#8217;t really remember, but Nick does), I was thrown in to the common man&#8217;s sleeping quarters and the boat left at midnight.<\/p>\n<p>The boat arrived off of &#8220;Arch Point&#8221; at about 5:30 AM.  <\/p>\n<p>They waited for sunrise and made breakfast.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/3a.jpg\" alt=\"Three Sisters, Santa Barbara Island, CA\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The boat then moved to &#8220;Three Sisters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gearing up, I had to borrow a second stage from my rig and attach it to Ed&#8217;s rig.<\/p>\n<p>None the less, I was still the first in the water.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/4a.jpg\" alt=\"Nick is so tall, he just has to step off the boat.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nick is so tall, he just has to step off the boat.<\/p>\n<p>Swimming to the anchor line was a chore.<\/p>\n<p>Nick and I both had our cameras.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/pb132666a.jpg\" alt=\"An Octopus.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>An octopus.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/pb132746.jpg\" alt=\"A green anemone\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A green anemone.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/pb132788.jpg\" alt=\"A sea snail on kelp.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A sea snail on kelp.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/pb132873a.jpg\" alt=\"A sea star!\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A sea star!<\/p>\n<p>The environment reminds me of White Point;  lots of sea urchins, star fish, an octopus and some kelp.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/pb132773.jpg\" alt=\"Stalked by sea lions.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Going towards shore, we were stalked by some sea lions.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/pb132677a.jpg\" alt=\"Pacific Electric Ray\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Coming back to the boat, we saw a Pacific Electric Ray &#8211; I didn&#8217;t know it at the time, but Nick waved me off of my pursuit. <\/p>\n<p>He later told me that they can become aggressive and shock you.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks Nick!  <\/p>\n<p>Finally buddy diving has paid off for me.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone was out of the water by 9:15 AM.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three Sisters, Santa Barbara Island, CA Diving off of the Sundiver Boat In With: 2700 psi Out With: 800 psi Max depth: 40 feet Waves: Insignificant, but a strong current Visibility: 40 feet Water Temperature: Cool Total Bottom Time: 45 minutes Dove with Nick and 15 other guys and hot chicks.
