{"id":282,"date":"2004-10-04T23:03:36","date_gmt":"2004-10-05T06:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=282"},"modified":"2008-01-19T19:56:36","modified_gmt":"2008-01-20T02:56:36","slug":"logged-dive-83-advanced-course-at-malaga-cove","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=282","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #83 Advanced Course At Malaga Cove"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malaga Cove, Palos Verdes Estates, CA<\/p>\n<p>Night time lobster hunting with Instructor John and student Ron T as part of an Advanced SCUBA class.<\/p>\n<p>In With: 3400 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 2200 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 15 feet<br \/>\nWaves:  1 foot, very calm<br \/>\nVisibility: 10 feet but silty<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cool<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 25 minutes<br \/>\nNotable Event: This dive just really sucked!<\/p>\n<p>We met around 6:30 PM, geared up and walked down about 7:10 PM.<\/p>\n<p>I briefed Ron and John about what I knew of the area.<\/p>\n<p>John took us out on the South side of the pool building; that really sucked.  <\/p>\n<p>It was extremely low tide and we ended up crawling over 20 yards of shallow rock before being able to sort of float.<\/p>\n<p>Once we were out, we started hunting for bugs.  <\/p>\n<p>I was the only one to be able to submerge.  <\/p>\n<p>John apparently forgot his weight belt; we found it later on shore.  <\/p>\n<p>He wasn&#8217;t sure if he accidentally dropped it.<\/p>\n<p>Ron wasn&#8217;t properly weighted for such a shallow dive.<\/p>\n<p>Ron and I separated from John for a while.<\/p>\n<p>I caught a few lobsters, but they were all short.<\/p>\n<p>We were only under water about 20 minutes, maybe 25.<\/p>\n<p>Ron and I called the dive and started going in.  <\/p>\n<p>John was coming in to look for his weight belt.<\/p>\n<p>We crawled back up over the plain of shallow rocks.<\/p>\n<p>This dive sucked.<\/p>\n<p>This was a jinxed dive.  <\/p>\n<p>I discovered the next day that I left my fins down on the rocks!<\/p>\n<p>I went back the next day, 20 hours later, and they were still there! <\/p>\n<p>Phew!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malaga Cove, Palos Verdes Estates, CA Night time lobster hunting with Instructor John and student Ron T as part of an Advanced SCUBA class.
