{"id":274,"date":"2004-09-06T17:37:22","date_gmt":"2004-09-07T00:37:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=274"},"modified":"2008-01-19T11:02:01","modified_gmt":"2008-01-19T18:02:01","slug":"logged-dive-75-labor-day-at-veterans-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=274","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #75, Labor Day At Veteran&#8217;s Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran&#8217;s Park, Redondo Beach, CA<\/p>\n<p>In with: 3100 psi<br \/>\nOut with: 800 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 70 feet<br \/>\nWaves: 1-3 feet<br \/>\nVisibility: 10-15 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Warmer than usual<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 40 minutes +\/-<\/p>\n<p>Solo Diving, My Labor Day Solo Dive!<\/p>\n<p>Ed and Nick are busy today, so it&#8217;s Labor Day solo diving!<\/p>\n<p>I checked out Long Point around 8:30 AM; it was way too rough!<\/p>\n<p>Large swooping waves &#8211; forget it!<\/p>\n<p>I was told it might be rough because of &#8220;Hurricane Harold&#8221; down in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Florida is being hit by a Hurricane right now, so I haven&#8217;t heard about Ivan.<\/p>\n<p>Redondo was starting to get crowded when I got there at 9:15 AM.<\/p>\n<p>A half an hour later, I was in the water.<\/p>\n<p>Several other divers were around;  the beach was more crowded than usual &#8211;  Yep, labor day.<\/p>\n<p>I went down the shelf to 70 feet, then up to 60 and slowly swam North and South a few times.<\/p>\n<p>I saw another diver going over the shelf.<\/p>\n<p>As you go North, there&#8217;s some small sea life and struggling kelp.<\/p>\n<p>The shelf also starts to turn West.<\/p>\n<p>There was a huge spider crab trolling around;  I saw some small bat rays and, believe it or not, an octopus.<\/p>\n<p>Also, a dead bird&#8217;s skeleton and the same trash, too.<\/p>\n<p>I came out with little problem;  I did fall but picked my self up after tripping.<\/p>\n<p>This was a good exercise dive with no problems.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran&#8217;s Park, Redondo Beach, CA In with: 3100 psi Out with: 800 psi Max depth: 70 feet Waves: 1-3 feet Visibility: 10-15 feet Water Temperature: Warmer than usual Total Bottom Time: 40 minutes +\/- Solo Diving, My Labor Day Solo Dive!
