{"id":271,"date":"2004-08-22T18:25:05","date_gmt":"2004-08-23T01:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=271"},"modified":"2008-01-19T10:48:08","modified_gmt":"2008-01-19T17:48:08","slug":"logged-dive-72-long-point-rpv-ca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=271","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #72, Long Point, RPV, CA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, CA<br \/>\n(aka The Old Marineland)<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Nick<\/p>\n<p>In with: 3100 psi<br \/>\nOut with: 1000 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 40 feet<br \/>\nWaves: 1-2 feet<br \/>\nVisibility: 10-15 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cool to warm<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 45 minutes<br \/>\nPhotos by: Nick<\/p>\n<p>I worked from 4 AM to 9 AM.<\/p>\n<p>I called Nick when I got off and we met around 9:40 AM at Long Point.<\/p>\n<p>I took a &#8220;short cut&#8221; from Long Beach through San Pedro that cost me some time.<\/p>\n<p>The waves were calm.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, the Sandeaters were diving there.<\/p>\n<p>Easy in for the both of us.<\/p>\n<p>Nick wanted to explore the point near Pigeon Shit Cave;  I advised against it because of the fisherman.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p8222207.jpg\" alt=\"Pigeon Shit Cave\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a great environment, full of kelp, fish and other marine life.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p8222213.jpg\" alt=\"A reef off of Long Point.\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p8222222a.jpg\" alt=\"A reef off of Long Point.\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p8222234.jpg\" alt=\"A reef off of Long Point.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Suddenly, waves started pushing me.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p8222238.jpg\" alt=\"Surfacing in swells.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There was no visibility, so I surfaced and found myself between two reefs very close to shore with fishermen all around.<\/p>\n<p>I swam back out &#8212; ooops!<\/p>\n<p>We went East and ran across a Bat Ray that scared the crap out of me!<\/p>\n<p>I backed up to give the Ray space, but I spooked it and it fled, almost hitting Nick who was following.<\/p>\n<p>We saw a lobster &#8211; it&#8217;s getting big, so I can come back and catch it October 2nd.<\/p>\n<p>Nick ran across a fishing line and  started tugging on it.<\/p>\n<p>I thought he was caught, so I swam back to assist.<\/p>\n<p>Nick was just messing with the fisherman.<\/p>\n<p>I advised him later that that is bad karma.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p8222248.jpg\" alt=\"Hot chicks at Long Point\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some pretty hot chicks were hanging out on the shore.<\/p>\n<p>We surfaced and went in with no problem.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p8222255.jpg\" alt=\"The props for the movie \u201cDick and Jane\u201d at the Old Marineland.\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p8282263.jpg\" alt=\"The props for the movie \u201cDick and Jane\u201d at the Old Marineland.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The props for the movie &#8220;Dick and Jane&#8221; at the Old Marineland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, CA (aka The Old Marineland) Dove with Nick In with: 3100 psi Out with: 1000 psi Max depth: 40 feet Waves: 1-2 feet Visibility: 10-15 feet Water Temperature: Cool to warm Total Bottom Time: 45 minutes Photos by: Nick I worked from 4 AM to 9 AM.
