{"id":23,"date":"2003-12-13T01:44:55","date_gmt":"2003-12-13T08:44:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/?p=23"},"modified":"2007-12-29T18:37:11","modified_gmt":"2007-12-30T01:37:11","slug":"logged-dive-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=23","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #21 Long Point, CA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, CA<br \/>\n(aka The Old Marineland)<\/p>\n<p>Solo Diving<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s suppose to rain tomorrow, so I dove today.<\/p>\n<p>If it doesn&#8217;t rain tomorrow, I&#8217;ll dive tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>I got to Long Point about 8:30 AM.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/wp-content\/112.jpg\" alt=\"Salvage and clean-up ships.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Two other would-be divers were asking me what the big boat with the containment buoys were doing.<\/p>\n<p>I found out later that they were containing fuel and oil from a fishing boat that sank &#8212; this was after I came back out.<\/p>\n<p>Waves in and out were about three and a half feet.<\/p>\n<p>It was two hours from high tide.<\/p>\n<p>I went in with 3200 psi, left with 500 psi.<\/p>\n<p>I took my camera hoping that it was going to be as clear as November 23rd &#8212; 30 feet visibility.<\/p>\n<p>Visibility was only 15 feet or so.<\/p>\n<p>Oh well, I tried 200 speed film instead of 400.<\/p>\n<p>The pictures came out much better.<\/p>\n<p>But hey, a $40 camera is just that&#8230; a $40 camera!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/wp-content\/29.jpg\" alt=\"Garibaldi\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/wp-content\/39.jpg\" alt=\"Garibaldi along a reef.\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/wp-content\/47.jpg\" alt=\"A darkened reef.\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/wp-content\/58.jpg\" alt=\"I\u2019m at 40 feet now.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m at 40 feet now.<\/p>\n<p>The water was cold; about 45-50 degrees F; I got used to it once submerged.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/wp-content\/67.jpg\" alt=\"Another Garibaldi!\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/wp-content\/76.jpg\" alt=\"A self portrait - retarded looking diver?\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A retarded looking diver; Okay, that&#8217;s a self portrait!<\/p>\n<p>I got tangled on kelp a few times but was able to pull myself free.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/wp-content\/86.jpg\" alt=\"An orange blob and red blob.\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/wp-content\/94.jpg\" alt=\"A rock fish.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Easy going back in, I mean coming back to shore.<\/p>\n<p>I met a few diving researchers that say they regularly monitor the temperature of the water off of Long Point.<\/p>\n<p>In with: 3200 psi<br \/>\nOut with: 500 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 45 feet<br \/>\nWaves: 3 and a half feet<br \/>\nWater temperature: 45 degrees (I think) cold<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, CA (aka The Old Marineland) Solo Diving It&#8217;s suppose to rain tomorrow, so I dove today.
