{"id":2270,"date":"2012-06-30T22:35:22","date_gmt":"2012-07-01T05:35:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=2270"},"modified":"2012-07-01T18:43:45","modified_gmt":"2012-07-02T01:43:45","slug":"first-dive-at-lula-off-the-cee-ray","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=2270","title":{"rendered":"First Dive at Lula, off the Cee Ray"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After about a 20 minute boat ride, we anchored at our next destination&#8230; &#8220;Lula.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to Captain Mike, the Cee Ray is the only dive boat that anchors here.<\/p>\n<p>I was pointed in the direction of a nice reef, &#8220;North-West of the boat&#8221; and then &#8220;just follow the reef North.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Logged SCUBA Dive #411<\/p>\n<p>Solo Diving<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Lula,&#8221; Catalina, CA<\/p>\n<p>In With: 2900 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 600 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 64 feet<br \/>\nWaves: Slight chop<br \/>\nVisibility: Up to 20 feet, but more like 15 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: 65 degrees, colder at depth<br \/>\nAir Temperature: 84 degrees<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 45 minutes or so<\/p>\n<p>I submerged and went North-West.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/guantkelp342.jpg' alt='The land of the Giant Kelp' \/><\/p>\n<p>I entered the &#8220;Land of the Giant Kelp.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/hugekelpsse3.jpg' alt='Huge kelp bulbs.' \/><\/p>\n<p>I know that water magnifies things by 25%, but this kelp was the largest I&#8217;ve ever seen &#8211; strands as wide as a sheet of dry wall and bulbs as big as my fist.<\/p>\n<p>However, I came to the realization, that I had missed the reef completely.<\/p>\n<p>I swam back in the direction of the boat, missing it completely, and running into a very shallow, but colorful reef, and a couple other divers.<\/p>\n<p>After surfacing to get my bearings, I made a short underwater swim back to the Cee Ray.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After about a 20 minute boat ride, we anchored at our next destination&#8230; &#8220;Lula.&#8221; According to Captain Mike, the Cee Ray is the only dive boat that anchors here.
