{"id":223,"date":"2004-07-03T15:47:44","date_gmt":"2004-07-03T22:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=223"},"modified":"2008-01-13T16:02:01","modified_gmt":"2008-01-13T23:02:01","slug":"logged-dive-60-at-the-old-marineland-aka-long-point","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=223","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #60 at The Old Marineland (aka Long Point)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, CA<br \/>\n(aka The Old Marineland)<\/p>\n<p>Dove With Nick<\/p>\n<p>The swell maps on Sandeaters.org made the visibility seem like it should be decent.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel from Redondo Pier said it was 40 feet off of Redondo yesterday &#8211; at least the guy at the Dive Shop told him that.<\/p>\n<p>We met at 9:50 AM.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel was suppose to show up at 10 AM, but he flaked.<\/p>\n<p>Nick said the security guard had<strong> just <\/strong>opened the gate.<\/p>\n<p>I came to find out that all of my regulators leaked air.<\/p>\n<p>For the next half hour we tried to make one good rig out of my two.  Actually the second rig was Ed&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>I ended up taking the bladder out of the auxiliary second stage to keep it from leaking.<\/p>\n<p>We got in the water around 10:45; easy entry except for dodging the fishing line from the Mexican fishermen that were off the cove.<\/p>\n<p>We swam to the rocky point off of Pigeon Shit cave and submerged.<\/p>\n<p>Visibility wasn&#8217;t as good as I thought it should be &#8211; 15 feet maybe 20.<\/p>\n<p>Nick had his camera, I was just a sightseer.<\/p>\n<p>We went North, around the point.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p7031570.jpg\" alt=\"Star fish get intimate.\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p7031574.jpg\" alt=\"An orange blog and sea urchins\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p7031578a.jpg\" alt=\"Do you see the fish?\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p7031579.jpg\" alt=\"A yellow blog on a Long Point reef.\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/starfish-21.jpg\" alt=\"An orange star fish.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a slightly different environment than the one Nick&#8217;s used to there.<\/p>\n<p>Reefs, sea weed, sea urchins, etc.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p7031573.jpg\" alt=\"Going up!\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/p7031589.jpg\" alt=\"\u2026 and up!\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The exit was no problem.<\/p>\n<p>This was a good, uneventful dive.<\/p>\n<p>Ed fixed my rigs afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>In with: 2700 psi<br \/>\nOut with: 500 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 35 feet<br \/>\nWaves: 1-2 feet<br \/>\nVisibility: 20 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: Cool and Warm<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 50 minutes<\/p>\n<p>We met &#8220;Victor&#8221; &#8211; a Long Shoreman crane operator.<\/p>\n<p>He gave me $10 for loaning him a coat hanger to unlock his car.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, CA (aka The Old Marineland) Dove With Nick The swell maps on Sandeaters.org made the visibility seem like it should be decent.
