{"id":2216,"date":"2012-02-05T23:47:23","date_gmt":"2012-02-06T06:47:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=2216"},"modified":"2012-02-06T11:15:19","modified_gmt":"2012-02-06T18:15:19","slug":"super-bowl-sunday-scuba-dive-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=2216","title":{"rendered":"Super Bowl Sunday SCUBA Dive Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have found out some very disappointing news regarding my planned SCUBA diving trip to Albania in April. <\/p>\n<p>I will have to put that subject together in my next post, within a couple of days &#8211; check back for details.<\/p>\n<p>There were lots of divers at Sunday Services &#8211; I would say a good twenty, and lots of new faces.<\/p>\n<p>Taking other people&#8217;s word for it, our group geared up and proceeded to The Point &#8211; Air Force Chris and I have a &#8220;No pain&#8221; policy of Point entry.<\/p>\n<p>It was low tide, and if you didn&#8217;t time the waves just right, you would get dragged over boulders &#8211; we called it and headed for The Cove.<\/p>\n<p>Entry at The Cove was still tricky &#8211; it was low tide, and stepping between the slippery rocks as the waves rolled in and out sucked.<\/p>\n<p>Air Force Chris and I made it out with no problems.<\/p>\n<p>Three divers followed behind us &#8211; one fell, and face planted on the rocks, losing a fin that promptly washed away with the receding wave.<\/p>\n<p>Just a little bloody, the diver got up and snorkeled in the surf zone to retrieve his fin, but with no luck.<\/p>\n<p>His two buddies and Chris and I looked for the fin &#8211; some underwater, some from the surface, as the waves rolled in and out of the surf zone; I almost got beached a couple of times.<\/p>\n<p>I swam out about 20 yards, aligned with where he fell, submerged and swam towards shore, skimming the floor.<\/p>\n<p>In 15 feet of water, I found his fin.<\/p>\n<p>Chris and I headed to 120 reef, the other three headed to the right.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/dscf0484illegalfisherman.jpg' alt='Illegal fishermen.' \/><\/p>\n<p>Illegal fishermen on the East side of Pigeon Shit Cave.<\/p>\n<p>Logged SCUBA Dive #403<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Air Force Chris<br \/>\n120 Reef,Terranea Resort, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA USA<\/p>\n<p>In With: 2900 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 500 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 44 feet<br \/>\nWaves: A little rough, but manageable<br \/>\nVisibility: Eight feet, maybe better<br \/>\nWater Temperature: 55 degrees<br \/>\nAir Temperature: 69 degrees<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 45 minutes<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/dscf0533seagulls45.jpg' alt='Birds off of the cave.' \/><\/p>\n<p>We descended.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/dscf0505chrisatreef6678.jpg' alt='Chriss off the reef.' \/><\/p>\n<p>Yeah, it was a little green &#8211; eight feet of visibility, I think.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/dscf0526lookingout783.jpg' alt='Vis is low.' \/><\/p>\n<p>When the visibility is low &#8211; just go macro.<\/p>\n<p>I did the best I could&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/dscf0511sunstarrt7.jpg' alt='A Sun Star.' \/><\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/dscf0513crab8856.jpg' alt='A Sheep Crab' \/><\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/dscf0527starreef92.jpg' alt='Star fish on a reef.' \/><\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/dscf0530starfish7320.jpg' alt='More star fish.' \/><\/p>\n<p>All in all, it was a great dive.<\/p>\n<p>I made a sloppy exit, washing to shore with my fins still on, and flailing on the rocks trying to get them off.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, there were no cameras and no women watching.<\/p>\n<p>The braves souls that dove off The Point completed their mission&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/dscf0545bobandjordan.jpg' alt='A Lobster Trap recovered.' \/><\/p>\n<p>They successfully recovered an 80 pound abandoned lobster trap, using lift bags and brute force.<\/p>\n<p>Now, whether it&#8217;s worth anything remains to seen, but at least a rogue lobster trap has been removed from what is now a Marine Preserve.<\/p>\n<p>Debriefing was, of course, world class; but we made sure that it didn&#8217;t interfere with the other Super Bowl parties that lay ahead.<\/p>\n<p>You want to take your husband&#8217;s car and rub it in?<\/p>\n<p>This car was spotted in the parking lot&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/dscf0553washis.jpg' alt='Hanging Ken - Car Was His' \/><\/p>\n<p>Typical vengeful woman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have found out some very disappointing news regarding my planned SCUBA diving trip to Albania in April.
