{"id":220,"date":"2004-06-20T19:31:08","date_gmt":"2004-06-21T02:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=220"},"modified":"2008-01-13T15:47:46","modified_gmt":"2008-01-13T22:47:46","slug":"logged-dive-57-at-the-old-marineland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=220","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #57 at The Old Marineland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, CA<br \/>\n(aka The Old Marineland)<\/p>\n<p>Dove With Daniel M from Redondo Pier<\/p>\n<p>I met Daniel around 10 AM.<\/p>\n<p>The conditions were excellent yesterday, so here I am again.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel informed me of a diving accident here a few days ago.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, I forgot to mention, there was a crude memorial in the cove.  <\/p>\n<p>People were throwing flowers into the water;  I thought it was a religious cult.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently a father and son were diving off of the cove.<\/p>\n<p>The son panicked and held his father; they both started to sink.  <\/p>\n<p>The father released his son&#8217;s weight belt and pushed him away.  <\/p>\n<p>The son held his breath on the way up.  <\/p>\n<p>He died on the way to the hospital of an aneurism or Embolism? <\/p>\n<p>They had only been in 15 feet of water.<\/p>\n<p>Easy entry;  Daniel got a cramp early on his leg.<\/p>\n<p>We went North of Pigeon Shit cave.  <\/p>\n<p>Absolutely spectacular!<\/p>\n<p>Probably better than yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>There is such a variety of environment to the North.<\/p>\n<p>We saw lobsters, barracudas, a shovelnosed guitar fish, a bat ray and yes, sheephead.<\/p>\n<p>It was a slow paced 100% pure sightseeing dive.<\/p>\n<p>I followed Daniel the second half.<\/p>\n<p>Easy exit.  It&#8217;s father&#8217;s day today;  I&#8217;m heading to my parents&#8217; place afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>In with: 3000 psi<br \/>\nOut with: 400 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 30 feet<br \/>\nWaves: 3 feet\/ calm<br \/>\nVisibility: 30 feet<br \/>\nWater temperature: Warm<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 45 minutes<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, CA (aka The Old Marineland) Dove With Daniel M from Redondo Pier I met Daniel around 10 AM.
