{"id":2064,"date":"2011-07-24T22:02:56","date_gmt":"2011-07-25T05:02:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=2064"},"modified":"2011-07-29T23:16:39","modified_gmt":"2011-07-30T06:16:39","slug":"sunday-services-diving-terranea-resort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=2064","title":{"rendered":"Sunday Services &#8211; Diving Terranea Resort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m on a diving roll &#8211; I got my tank filled on the Sand Dollar (I paid the deck hand $5) yesterday, after three dives in Catalina, and now for Sunday services &#8211; my traditional shore dive from Terranea Resort.<\/p>\n<p>As I approached Palos Verdes, driving in my chick magnet, I realized that I left my regulator soaking in a five gallon fresh water bucket at home.<\/p>\n<p>However, I did luck out.<\/p>\n<p>Since I was prepared for a boat dive yesterday, I still had my emergency backup regulator in my bag &#8211; perfect!<\/p>\n<p>Another saved dive!<\/p>\n<p>I arrived a little late, but there were a lot of divers there.<\/p>\n<p>Not only the regular Diveveters were there, but Dive N Surf was having a club dive &#8211; there must have been 30 divers in the parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>Logged SCUBA Dive #385<\/p>\n<p>The Cove, Terranea Resort, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA<br \/>\nDove with Jordan and Jordan Senior<\/p>\n<p>In With: 2500 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 600 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 35 feet<br \/>\nWaves: Pretty flat with a few challenging swells<br \/>\nVisibility: 8 &#8211; 18 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: 66 degrees<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: About 50 minutes<\/p>\n<p>I teamed up with Jordon and his father; we all had about 2500 psi in our tanks, so we decided to go off of the Cove.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of people dove off the Point as the water was extremely calm, at least, for the most part.<\/p>\n<p>I made it out with no problems, but the swells kicked up a bit as my buddies entered.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/jordanandfather010.jpg' alt='Jordan and his Dad make it out.' \/><\/p>\n<p>We surface swam to 120 reef and descended.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/goingdown0011.jpg' alt='SCUBA descent' \/><\/p>\n<p>Visibility was great!<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/viswasgood4016.jpg' alt='Visibility was good!' \/><\/p>\n<p>We trolled around 120 reef&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/omlreef8io00020.jpg' alt='Starfish.' \/><\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/omlreef910027.jpg' alt='Sunstar.' \/><\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/omlreef0030026.jpg' alt='A sunstar.' \/><\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/omlreef930022.jpg' alt='A SCUBA Diver tours 120 reef.' \/><\/p>\n<p>About 15 minutes into the dive, my camera froze &#8211; it wouldn&#8217;t turn off and the buttons were not responsive.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, that&#8217;s when we had a seal encounter.<\/p>\n<p>We started back when I hit 1000 psi and surfaced at the finger that leads to the cave.<\/p>\n<p>There were some psychos diving off the rocks near the cave (see the below video) where it&#8217;s &#8220;shallow and pointy;&#8221; luckily they apparently quit before anyone got hurt.<\/p>\n<p>I made a perfect exit, so did Jordan and his Dad.<\/p>\n<p>Dive N Surf was nice enough to DM our exits.<\/p>\n<p>Reports from divers going off the Point were &#8211; &#8220;Visibility was about eight feet and we had to fight one hell of a current.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The current was so bad, that some SCUBA chicks from the Dive N Surf club exited the Point &#8211; something that not many divers do.<\/p>\n<p>But, they were new divers and didn&#8217;t realize that most divers avoid a Point exit.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/omldivers040030.jpg' alt='SCUBA Debriefing.' \/><\/p>\n<p>We took over part of the parking lot for our debriefing.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/ghettogrill0029.jpg' alt='Chef Chris.' \/><\/p>\n<p>Chris fired up his grill for hotdogs and Texas style bread.<\/p>\n<p>Professional Debriefer Paul made a short video:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"330\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FUUk8PcnMpU\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>To watch this video on YouTube, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FUUk8PcnMpU\" target=\"_new\">click here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another perfect Sunday service!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m on a diving roll &#8211; I got my tank filled on the Sand Dollar (I paid the deck hand $5) yesterday, after three dives in Catalina, and now for Sunday services &#8211; my traditional shore dive from Terranea Resort.
