{"id":1594,"date":"2009-06-14T23:01:55","date_gmt":"2009-06-15T06:01:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=1594"},"modified":"2009-06-15T06:25:39","modified_gmt":"2009-06-15T13:25:39","slug":"terranea-resort-is-now-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=1594","title":{"rendered":"Terranea Resort Is Now Open!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Logged SCUBA Dive #344<\/p>\n<p>Terranea Resort, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s time to get wet again, but this time Terranea Resort was open to the public &#8211; no more slipping the guard a beer for beach access.<\/p>\n<p>Conditions from yesterday were reported as &#8220;green with poor visibility.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Instructor Ron &amp; Nick<\/p>\n<p>In With: 3000 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 1500 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 34 feet<br \/>\nWaves: Annoying surge at shore<br \/>\nVisibility: 0 to 10 feet<br \/>\nTemperature: 58 degrees<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: Exactly 20 minutes<\/p>\n<p>It was low tide and with the promise of pretty crappy conditions, we decided to go off the cove.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/pict0003omljuly.jpg\" alt=\"We entered from the Cove.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Max Bottomtime had reported that he had lost a camera light between the Cove and The Point, replacing it would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n<p>We decided to search for it.<\/p>\n<p>For some reason, I have an uncanny ability to predict the future, hence my luck at the race track.<\/p>\n<p>With my excellent navigational skills and our perfect search pattern, Nick found the camera lighting&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/pict0004omljuly.jpg\" alt=\"Nick found the camera lighting!\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Nick for scoring us all some beer!<\/p>\n<p>Neither Ron nor Nick were macho enough to carry the camera lighting (it weighed 20 plus pounds), so I put it in my game bag and lugged it around the entire dive.<\/p>\n<p>Vis sucked, so I&#8217;ll spare you the pictures.<\/p>\n<p>After 20 minutes went by, diving over the sand just to record this dive, we exited the cove.<\/p>\n<p>Instructor Ron helped carry the extremely heavy camera lighting to shore.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/pict0007omljuly.jpg\" alt=\"Nick returns the camera housing to Max Bottomtime.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nick returns the camera housing to Max Bottomtime, our recovery team was rewarded with a case of Budweiser!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/pict0009omljuly.jpg\" alt=\"Debriefing continued, but this time with safety cups and the glare of the public.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Debriefing continued, but this time with safety cups and the glare of the public.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully conditions will improve and maybe, one day, I&#8217;ll have something to write about besides diving here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Logged SCUBA Dive #344 Terranea Resort, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA It&#8217;s time to get wet again, but this time Terranea Resort was open to the public &#8211; no more slipping the guard a beer for beach access.
