{"id":1592,"date":"2009-05-31T22:36:05","date_gmt":"2009-06-01T05:36:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=1592"},"modified":"2009-05-31T22:36:05","modified_gmt":"2009-06-01T05:36:05","slug":"another-pre-opening-dive-at-terranea-resort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=1592","title":{"rendered":"Another Pre-Opening Dive At Terranea Resort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning was gloomy and it sprinkled on and off; but, once at Terranea Resort, it was apparent that conditions were going to be spectacular.<\/p>\n<p>It was low tide, the ocean was as flat as a lake and we could see submerged rocks from the cliff.<\/p>\n<p>Since I hate crawling over slimmy and barnacle encrusted boulders at low tide, I was planning an entrance at the cove, but when I heard a woman was going to enter the Point on her first dive here, I decided to follow the group.<\/p>\n<p>Logged SCUBA Dive #342<\/p>\n<p>Terranea Resort, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA<\/p>\n<p>SoCal Buddy Diving With The Sunday Morning Divevets Crew<\/p>\n<p>In With: 3200 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 1000 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 53 feet<br \/>\nWaves: As flat as a lake<br \/>\nVisibility: 15 to 20 feet<br \/>\nTemperature: 58 degrees, colder at depth<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: About 45 minutes<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/Pict0121pomoml.jpg\" alt=\"The dangerous boulder entry.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We all made a very careful and uneventful entry over the slimmy boulders.<\/p>\n<p>We swam out to try and find the statue; I told Reverend Al that I would try and follow him, but I was technically going solo, so &#8220;Don&#8217;t worry about me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Al had two other divers that he was escorting.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/Pict0128pomoml.jpg\" alt=\"Vis was pretty damn good.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Vis was pretty damn good!<\/p>\n<p>Ten divers were in the water, so it wasn&#8217;t too long before I became seperated from Al; I went off on my own.<\/p>\n<p>I could not find the statue on this dive.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/Pict0116pomoml.jpg\" alt=\"An orange sea blob.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>An orange sea blob.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/Pict0136pomoml.jpg\" alt=\"A reef off of The Point.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I really need to buy an external flash; I&#8217;ve been going flashless lately to avoid the &#8220;scatter back&#8221; from internal flash photography that occurs underwater.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, under the massive kelp beds, the light was pretty dim; my camera had to take longer to expose and by that time a surge or current had moved me and the camera.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/Pict0149pomoml.jpg\" alt=\"A reef off of The Point..\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Visibility was good enough to practice some macro shots of the reef.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/Pict0152pomoml.jpg\" alt=\"A reef off of The Point..\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This area is what makes Southern California beach diving so great!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/Pict0160pomoml.jpg\" alt=\"A cool looking sunstar.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I spotted another sunstar on the way back to the cove.<\/p>\n<p>After 45 minutes, I made an uneventful exit at the rocky cove.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/Pict0164pomoml.jpg\" alt=\"Mean Bob DMed the exit.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mean Bob was nice enough to DM the exit.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/Pict0165pomoml.jpg\" alt=\"The debriefing begins.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Professional Debriefer Paul showed up to test our new &#8220;Debriefing Limits&#8221; with Terranea Resort.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/Pict0169pomoml.jpg\" alt=\"Debriefing continued without hassle.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With a slight rain and a few &#8220;Soft Opening&#8221; guests at the resort, we drank beer and even barbecued with no hassle.<\/p>\n<p>This may be Diver Todd&#8217;s last dive here before moving to Florida &#8211; he&#8217;s another victim of California&#8217;s shitty economy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This morning was gloomy and it sprinkled on and off; but, once at Terranea Resort, it was apparent that conditions were going to be spectacular.
