{"id":1557,"date":"2009-03-05T09:06:45","date_gmt":"2009-03-05T16:06:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=1557"},"modified":"2009-03-05T19:46:30","modified_gmt":"2009-03-06T02:46:30","slug":"scuba-divers-find-hotel-300-feet-under-south-carolinas-lake-jocassee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=1557","title":{"rendered":"Scuba Divers Find Hotel 300 Feet Under South Carolina&#8217;s Lake Jocassee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I came across an interesting CNN video that shows some SCUBA divers stumbling across a submerged hotel in 300 feet of water.<\/p>\n<p>I never have thought about taking a diving vacation to South Carolina, but I&#8217;ll certainly have to consider it now.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, I&#8217;m neither certified for a 300 foot dive, nor do I have the equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Attakulla Lodge was assumed to have been destroyed during the creation of South Carolina&#8217;s man-made Lake Jocassee, but divers have found the hotel, intact, in 300 feet of water.<\/p>\n<p>The hotel, was part of a neighborhood called Jocassee Valley.<\/p>\n<p>In 1973, the Duke Power Plant wanted to fend off four rivers and built a dam which flooded the valley and created the lake.<\/p>\n<p>The hotel was believed to have been destroyed until the SCUBA divers recently found it intact.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/video\/#\/video\/bestoftv\/2009\/02\/23\/ntm.lake.jocassee.cnn\" target=\"_new\">The video can be seen here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I came across an interesting CNN video that shows some SCUBA divers stumbling across a submerged hotel in 300 feet of water.
