{"id":154,"date":"2004-04-03T23:38:35","date_gmt":"2004-04-04T06:38:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/dev\/?p=154"},"modified":"2007-12-29T20:58:20","modified_gmt":"2007-12-30T03:58:20","slug":"logged-dive-36","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=154","title":{"rendered":"Logged Dive #36 Long Point, CA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, CA<br \/>\n(aka The Old Marineland)<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Nick<\/p>\n<p>I met Nick at 8:15 AM.<\/p>\n<p>There were about nine other divers there.<\/p>\n<p>According to Nick, who had talked to them, they were a SCUBA instructors club.<\/p>\n<p>They convinced Nick that we should go off the point.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0I brought my spear, Nick was a spectator.<\/p>\n<p>Going out I got tossed by the waves.<\/p>\n<p>The best place to go out on the point is between two rocks.<\/p>\n<p>The water fell, I landed between the crevice and was thrown back up when the next wave hit.<\/p>\n<p>Nick took his time getting in.<\/p>\n<p>Once out, we rested as the instructors went in.<\/p>\n<p>They were about 10 minutes behind us.<\/p>\n<p>Visibility was 10 feet and soupy &#8212; about the same as last week.<\/p>\n<p>I broke open a couple of sea urchins to chum the water; fish came to eat very quickly.<\/p>\n<p>The kelp bed off the point is the place to hunt.<\/p>\n<p>There were many fish, many intricate reefs.<\/p>\n<p>I shot a couple of big looking fish; but when I measured them they were not as big as I had hoped.<\/p>\n<p>I brought them in.<\/p>\n<p>We basically swam around in circles at the reef off the point.<\/p>\n<p>Nearing the end, we swam in underwater until Nick had 500 psi, then surfaced.<\/p>\n<p>We swam to the cove to exit.<\/p>\n<p>Entering the point is easy.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody (from what I&#8217;ve seen) exits the point.<\/p>\n<p>I banged my leg coming out.<\/p>\n<p>I shot two sheepheads on this dive.<\/p>\n<p>In with: 3100 psi<br \/>\nOut with: 400 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 42 feet<br \/>\nWaves: 2-3 feet, high tide<br \/>\nWater Temp: 58 degrees +\/-<br \/>\nVisibility: 10 feet and soupy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Long Point, CA (aka The Old Marineland) Dove with Nick I met Nick at 8:15 AM.
