{"id":3256,"date":"2014-09-14T23:33:12","date_gmt":"2014-09-15T06:33:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=3256"},"modified":"2014-09-15T06:33:42","modified_gmt":"2014-09-15T13:33:42","slug":"storms-rearrange-the-terranea-resort-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=3256","title":{"rendered":"Storms Rearrange The Terranea Resort Coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the last several weeks, huge waves have been battering the coast from two hurricanes in Mexico. <\/p>\n<p>I had checked on conditions two weeks ago, and the dive at Terranea Resort was quickly cancelled.<\/p>\n<p>The only diving around was at Veterans Park &#8211; so, I went home.<\/p>\n<p>Today is another day, and the swell maps gave promise to some good diving.<\/p>\n<p>Nice Bob and Mike had checked out the conditions and reported, &#8220;The Point is do-able as long as you time it right.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As long as I time it right?<\/p>\n<p>Dennis G. asked if I would join him for a dive at the cove. <\/p>\n<p>I accepted.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/2SCUBADSCF6342l.jpg\" alt=\"Rocky beach at Terranea\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3261\" srcset=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/2SCUBADSCF6342l.jpg 400w, http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/2SCUBADSCF6342l-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Huge waves rearranged the rocky beach, pushing many rocks further up, and taking out the staircase.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I also heard that the path to the Point was washed out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/2SCUBADSCF6341r.jpg\" alt=\"Sandy Beach\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3260\" srcset=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/2SCUBADSCF6341r.jpg 400w, http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/2SCUBADSCF6341r-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><br \/>\n<em>There is now a great sandy beach for entry and exit.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We made an easy entrance and swam out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/2SCUBADSCF6349l.jpg\" alt=\"The cove at Terranea\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3257\" srcset=\"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/2SCUBADSCF6349l.jpg 400w, http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/2SCUBADSCF6349l-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><br \/>\n<em>The new face of the Cove.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We swam to the rocky finger off of Pigeon Shit Cave and submerged.<\/p>\n<p>Logged SCUBA Dive #473<\/p>\n<p>Dove with Dennis G.<\/p>\n<p>The Cove off of Terranea Resort<\/p>\n<p>In With: 3000 psi<br \/>\nOut With: 750 psi<br \/>\nMax depth: 42 feet<br \/>\nWaves: Pretty flat<br \/>\nVisibility: 10 to 15 feet<br \/>\nWater Temperature: 64 degrees<br \/>\nAir Temperature: 85 degrees<br \/>\nTotal Bottom Time: 44 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Visibility sort of sucked &#8211; like five feet initially, until we got to 120 reef where it opened up to 10 to 15 feet.<\/p>\n<p>I looked at my camera and noticed a few drops of water inside may case.<\/p>\n<p>Hmm, it is a little warm for condensation&#8230; fuck, my camera housing was flooding!<\/p>\n<p>The camera was already wet, so turning back would have been useless.<\/p>\n<p>We surfaced, I opened my camera case, emptied the water and resealed it;  that didn&#8217;t help any.<\/p>\n<p>We circled around 120 reef;  Dennis broke open several sea urchins to feed the fish.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s nice to see the fish coming back &#8211; it was getting real barren a couple of years ago.<\/p>\n<p>After 35 minutes, we started heading back.<\/p>\n<p>The water was pretty warm except for a strange cold blast that hit us as we were coming in; it only lasted a few moments.<\/p>\n<p>There was a group of people at the Cove cheering a swimmer that was approaching the beach. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can do it! Go! Go!
