{"id":1966,"date":"2011-04-03T23:19:40","date_gmt":"2011-04-04T06:19:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=1966"},"modified":"2011-04-07T08:25:08","modified_gmt":"2011-04-07T15:25:08","slug":"terranea-dive-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/?p=1966","title":{"rendered":"Terranea Dive Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m still hiding out up in Santa Monica, but was dragged in to work at 2:30 AM; when I left at 9 AM I decided to stop by Old Marineland to make a cameo appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Reports from yesterday said that conditions sucked, so I wasn&#8217;t really expecting many, if any, divers.<\/p>\n<p>Bringing a snack tray and a 12 pack of the King Of Beers, I was quite surprised to see at least six familiar divers&#8217; vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, the County of Los Angeles made Terranea Resort officially &#8220;close&#8221; the trail down to the Cove (i.e. &#8220;The Sandy Beach&#8221;) due to storm damage and safety reasons, but the obstacles are easily bypassed and nobody seems to care if you&#8217;re on the trail.<\/p>\n<p>Conditions on the surface looked like the diving sucked.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the regular divers had made an exit, but the group was waiting for the remaining divers coming in from 120 reef.<\/p>\n<p>The shore was getting hit occasionally with some pretty nasty looking waves, so I grabbed my camera and filmed their exits.<\/p>\n<p>As Military Bob told me later, &#8220;When I see PSD on shore with his camera, I take my time getting out; I don&#8217;t want to wind-up on YouTube.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Everybody made a boring exit, thank God.<\/p>\n<p>However, a diver did drop his fin;  if you find it, call the number written on it and offer to sell it back to him.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/beachhaschanged0943932.jpg' alt='The shoreline has been rearranged by the recent storms' \/><\/p>\n<p>The shoreline has been rearranged by the recent storms &#8211; there is quite a ridge between the rocks and the sand.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing like climbing a sand dune in SCUBA gear!<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/psychosolodiver.com\/wp-content\/donnaanddennis.jpg' alt='Dennis G. and Donna The Hot Biker Chick.' \/><\/p>\n<p>Dennis G. and Donna The Hot Biker Chick.<\/p>\n<p>Well, the consensus report is, &#8220;the diving sucked,&#8221; but nobody expressed any regret getting wet.<\/p>\n<p>Not New Chris did his due diligence to capture the dive on video:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"400\" height=\"330\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RbzDXs_10M4?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>To view this video on YouTube, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RbzDXs_10M4\" target=\"_new\"> click here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Traditional debriefing followed.<\/p>\n<p>The Easter Egg dive is coming up on April 16th; I&#8217;m hoping to get back in the water by then as I am still congested from the cold that never goes away.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m still hiding out up in Santa Monica, but was dragged in to work at 2:30 AM; when I left at 9 AM I decided to stop by Old Marineland to make a cameo appearance.
